The Middle Georgia Center for Academic Excellence initially designed the Educational Talent Search program to help students and their parent’s complete college applications and financial aid forms. Based on need, it has evolved into much more than that. From specific subject tutoring to assist with college entrance essays, students have a multitude of options within Educational Talent Search. Our services are provided during regular school hours and after school to better meet the needs of our students. For after school sessions, students will need to provide their own transportation to our center.
PROGRAM OFFERINGS
NEED-BASED EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE
Educational Talent Search is a highly flexible program designed to meet varying levels of need. When a student joins this program, we will review their transcripts and provide them with a self-assessment survey. The student will then have the opportunity to sit down with one of our experienced counselors to discuss the different services and activities available to them. Between the assessment, transcript review, and counseling session, our team can help students assess what they need from the program and how it can benefit their academic lives.
Many students and their parents aren’t entirely sure what type of help they need, but we are well-equipped to determine this. For some students, a handful of sessions with a counselor or tutor throughout the school year may be all that’s needed. For others, two or three sessions a week may be more beneficial. Our team will make recommendations for activity participation, but the student and parents can choose what they want to participate in.
UNIQUE ACTIVITIES AND OPPORTUNITIES
A major highlight of the Talent Search program is the abundance of activities that students have to choose from. These include:
